The Glasgow Wildcats prove they are a force to be reckoned with as they claw their way up the CNSL table to 7th following victory over Loughborough Lightning 47-37 at Kelvin Hall.

Neither team looked comfortable on court for the first quarter as they each scrambled to put points on the board.

The Wildcats followed Lightning's lead for the duration of the opening 15minutes and trailed by three at the whistle 10-13.

The second quarter offered bursts of slick passages of play from the Wildcats, suggesting that the home side was on the brink of lifting their game to the next level.

This was exemplified by Captain Lesley MacDonald who launched herself beyond the baseline to return the ball into play to Gail Higgins for the Wildcats to score to take the lead 2 minutes before half time.

Lightning managed to sneak an equaliser in before the horn sounded, 21-21, but that was the last time the visitors were in contention.

10 minutes into the second half the home side produced what is best described as a netball epiphany. Their movement became more fluid and controlled; their shooting was flawless with some particularly impressive long shots from Gail Higgins in goal attack.

They stamped their authority over the match and developed a 7 goal lead going into the final quarter 34-27.

Loughborough Lightning were unable to challenge the dominant Wildcats and made numerous substitutions in a bid to remain in contention, but the game had been won in the third quarter.

Coach, Olivia Murphy stated there was a lack of confidence from the Lightning girls: "Once they start going down by a couple they struggle to come back again but they're a young team they're going to learn this its just a bit frustrating for them and for myself sitting watching it happen."

Meanwhile the Wildcats notch up their second win of the season and continue to advance on court and in the league table.

Wildcats coach Denise Holland said, "History will always suggest that we will get better, we will always improve. We've not had any lulls, we've not had any dips in performance we've always progressed, that's what we've got to do and that's what we're all focused on."

Holland expects the Wildcats to defeat Team Northumbria, away next week, who sit just one spot above them in the table but the aim is to pose a threat to all CNSL competition. Holland added, "We're not limiting ourselves to the bottom half of the table games we'll be striving to achieve excellence against those top four as well."
